Color Changes Everything

This might seem crazy but I've been to Target three times in the past week.  This was not planned and I rarely frequent Target more than once every few months.  While I was there, I gained a fresh perspective and new appreciation for this store.  (Maybe it was preempted by all the hype among fellow stay-at-home moms who say they frequent Target "way too much" and I had to see what all the hype was about....but now I get it!)

Please to not mistake this as a plug for Target (believe me, I'm not getting paid for this!) but they really seem to step it up in terms of cleanliness, modern touches and product selection.

Until last week, I would have classified Target as a lower priority, "secondary go-to" store for me.  My primary go-to store is my local grocery store which has everything from toothpaste to car parts and is open 24 hours.  So, in the category of "secondary go-to", Target was not in my primary consideration set and was more of a "nice to have" than a mandatory destination.

This has changed for me.  Here's why:
  • Clever mix of desirable shopping environment (great lighting, cleanliness, ample employees)
  • Fair prices (close to or better than nearby competitors)
  • Chic, modern and relevant product selection (clothes, accessories, shoes, baby gear, cleaning products, seasonal merchandise, books, etc, etc...) targeted at a younger demographic
And, most of all, I feel clever and chic when I shop there!  What a marketing success!
